Der Trend zu Wellness boomt weiterhin. Der Gesamtumsatz des Wellness-Marktes wuchs von 1999 auf 2005 um knapp 35% auf 72,9 Mrd. EUR. Für 2010 wird erwartet, dass der Umsatz über 100 Mrd. EUR liegt. Waren es zuerst Bäder, Hotels und Kureinrichtungen, die mit Wellness-Angeboten lockten, hält der Begriff Wellness derzeit Einzug in zahlreiche Angebote des alltäglichen Bedarfs. Die Produktpalette mit der Bezeichnung Wellness umfasst dabei nicht nur Müsli oder Tees, sondern auch Matratzen oder Socken. Damit stellen Wellness-Affine eine überaus interessante Zielgruppe für zahlreiche Produkte und Dienstleistungen dar.
Bereits heute gehen 14 Prozent (8,8 Millionen Personen) der deutschen Bevölkerung regelmäßig Wellness-Aktivitäten nach und bescheren dem Markt einen Umsatz von rund 73 Milliarden Euro pro Jahr. Bis 2010 wird nochmals ein Anstieg auf über 100 Milliarden Euro erwartet. Es lohnt sich also, diese attraktive Zielgruppe einmal näher zu betrachten und eventuell in die Branche einzusteigen.
